Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has removed head coach of Bangladesh National Cricket team Shane Jurgensen with immediate effect.
The decision was announced after a meeting of the Board of Directors on Monday.
The BCB spokesperson said after the meeting that the board requested Shane Jurgensen to stay until World Cup 2015 but he regretted. "So, we decided to release him immediately."
He also said the BCB has formed a five-member committee to hunt a new coach for the Tigers.
Shane Jurgensen had resigned as Bangladesh coach on April 28 through a letter to BCB from home but he wants to stay till the Tigers home series against India in June.
It had been believed that he would stay in the job till the end of the proposed ODI series against India in June, giving the BCB a chance to find a new coach.
But, the BCB announced on Monday that he will be leaving immediately.
In his resignation letter sent to the BCB, Jurgensen had said he was irked by comments in the media from some board directors who had talked about looking for a batting-oriented coach.
Later, BCB President Nazmul Hassan had said: "If anyone wants to leave then there's no reason to keep him as he won't be able to give his cent percent."
Bangladesh coach Shane Jurgensen has resigned from his hot seat less than a month after the ICC World T20 where his team Bangladesh won just two out of seven matches.
There had been talks within the BCB to replace the coaches after Bangladesh's woeful home season. The team managed just one win in the Sri Lanka series, lost all four Asia Cup games and in the World T20.
They could only manage wins against Afghanistan and Nepal but lost to Hong Kong.
Shane Jurgensen said his resignation as Bangladesh coach was well thought out, and not an emotional one.
Shane, who arrived in Dhaka on Thursday (May 1), three days after informing the BCB of his decision to quit as coach told reporters at the airports that his resignation as Bangladesh coach is not an emotional one.
Jurgensen bagged the two-year deal in February last year keeping in mind the 2015 World Cup. During his time as full-time head coach, Bangladesh won a Test match after four years against Zimbabwe, and drew Tests against Sri Lanka (in Galle) and against New Zealand at home. They also drew an ODI series in Sri Lanka and blanked New Zealand 3-0.
Since Bangladesh became a Test nation in 2000, the BCB has employed eight foreign coaches, with the last three - Stuart Law, Richard Pybus and Jorgensen - resigning without completing their contract.
