Jatiya Ganotantrik League
A discussion on Bangabandhu's Homecoming Day organised jointly by Jatiya Ganotantrik League and NAP-Bhasani was held on Monday at the Jatiya Press Club. Awami League Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud was present as the chief guest. While speaking Hasan said BNP would require to bring about changes in its leadership to help return the party to constructive politics. He alleged that BNP along with communal forces started hatching conspiracies against the government and the state failing to face the Awami League politically. He called upon the BNP to severe ties with the anti-liberation forces for the greater interest of the country's democracy. The AL leader said the BNP frequently issued threats against the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina through media as contrary to the absence of the party's leaders and workers on the streets. "BNP has no contacts with the people. The existence of the party would not be visible excepting mass media," Hasan observed. The programme was addressed, among others, by President of Swechchhasebak League Molla Mohammad Abu Kawsar, Vice-President of Jatiya Press Club Azizul Islam Bhuiyan and Bangladesh Krishak League Vice-President Sheikh Mohammad Jahangir Alam. NAP-Bhasani Chairman Abul Kalam Azad, MP, presided over the function.
H & M Foundation
A modern public toilet was launched at a function jointly organised by H & M Foundation and WaterAid Bangladesh in association with Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) at Muktangon Park in the city on the 6th instant. DSCC Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon inaugurated this modern sanitation facility. While speaking Khokon said, "We have taken a project to build 100 public toilets. Several of those will be built in association with WaterAid." He hoped this toilets will meet the necessity of public toilets at Gulistan region. Khokan said the initiative would be continued and hoped "the public toilet building project would be completed by 2017." WaterAid and H&M Foundation have jointly brought these facility for the commuters. The maintenance will be ensured under the public leaders.These modern toilets are equipped with facilities including separate chamber for male and female, locker, hand washing point, shower and safe drinking water facility.
