Looted arms found in Bandarban, 3 arrested

Cox's Bazar Correspondent :
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive recovered huge arms and ammunition from a dense forest of Naikhangchhari upazila in Bandarban district on Tuesday.
Of the arms, one is SMG, three M-2 rifles, one Chinese rifle, seven magzines, five pistols, 189 rounds of bullets and 26 cartridges.
Most of the arms were looted in an attack on a Ansar camp at Teknaf  in Cox's Bazar district on May 13 last year.
The RAB arrested three persons also in this
connection. They are Khairul Amin, Abul Kalam Azad and Hasan Ahmed, RAB officials said.
"The recovered five firearms and 189 rounds of bullets are among the 11 arms and 670 rounds of bullets which were looted from the Teknaf Ansar camp," informed Director General (DG) Benazir Ahmed of RAB in a  press briefing at Tomburu Puran Pahar of the forest around 1:30pm. The drive will continue for two more days.
Director General of Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) Major General Mizanur Rahman, said, "The recovery became possible due to a drive launched after arrest of two members of the robber gang yesterday. They are accused in a case filed in connection with the attack on the Ansar camp."
On Monday evening, Khairul Amin and Abul Kalam Azad were arrested from Kutupalong area in Ukhiya upazila, said Lieutenant Colonel Ashequr Rahman, Company Commander of Cox's Bazar of RAB-7.
"Acting on a tip-off, a RAB team launched a drive at Kutupalang and arrested them for their alleged involvement in the killing of an Ansar member inside a Rohingya refugee camp in Teknaf upazila.
On May 13, Ansar member Ali Hossain, 55, was shot dead and 11 firearms were looted during the attack inside the Rohingya refugee camp in Teknaf upazila. Alamgir Hossain, an Ansar member of the barrack inside the Rohingya camp, filed a case against 35 unidentified people with Teknaf police station.
