Police on Saturday recovered huge explosives from the militant hideout at Premtala in Sitakunda upazila on the outskirts of the port city Chittagong.
Earlier on Thursday, at least four suspected militants and a kid were killed in an overnight raid titled 'Assault 16' by special joint forces there.
According to the police, a bomb disposal unit recovered the explosives, including 15 bombs and grenades, six drums of liquid hydrogen peroxide and jells from the militant hideout.
"We searched the hideout again on Saturday morning and recovered 15 bombs and grenades, six drums of liquid hydrogen peroxide and jells from there," Noor E Alam Mina, Superintendent of Chittagong District Police, told The New Nation yesterday.
He added that they would continue the search.
Meanwhile Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, Deputy Inspector General, Chittagong Range, said a total of 10 bombs and powerful grenades were diffused.
Explosives of three suicide vests were found in two backpacks near the dead bodies during the joint forces' operation on the militant hideout.
"These chemicals were used to make explosives," Shafiqul Islam added.
Meanwhile, law enforcers raided Al Jamiatul Ulum Al Islamia, a madrasa run by a top Hefajat-e-Islami leader in Lalkhan Bazar area of Chittagong city.
Sheikh Md Nasir Uddin, officer-in-charge of Khulshi Police Station said Hefajat Nayeb-e-Ameer Mufti Izharul Islam Chowdhury established the madrasa.
Earlier, three people including two students were killed and several others injured in an explosion at four storied dormitory of the madrasa on October 7, 2013.
Meanwhile, law enforcers have stepped up security in all important places and establishments in the port city and its adjacent areas, following the incident.
Additional uniformed and plainclothes detectives have been deployed for increased surveillance.
Law enforcement agency members are alert to combat any sort of militant attack, police said. The law enforcement units working on to curb militancy were aware that more attackers could carry out subversive activities, and that was why they were looking for the suspects.
