Wari Club registered a hard fought solitary goal victory against spirited Jatrabari Krira Chakra in the lone match of Saif Powertec Dhaka Metropolis Senior Division Football League held on Sunday at Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the city's Kamlapur.
Both teams came in the match knowing that a win will almost confirm their place in the Champion's league next season. Both teams Wari Club and Jatrabari KC after playing nine matches earlier had 19 and 17 points respectively before this encounter.
So win today was vital for both teams. They fought hard and the first half ended barren. Jatrabari made things difficult for themselves as Zaheer for his serious offence was shown red card just before the breather but not before as their player Masum's shot hit the crossbar returned to play to the dismay of the Jatrabari's fans.
In the second half, Tito's shot in the 76th minute hit the side bar and on rebound Mohammed Anik was there to tap it home (1-0) for Wari.
Jatrabari despite playing the full second half with ten men, fought hard and were unlucky when their player Shamim's saw his shot hit the crosspiece and returned to play in the dying seconds of the proceedings.
Shadhinata Krira Sangha are at the top of the table with 23 points from nine matches and assured of their place in the next year's champions league with a round to go, while Wari are in second position with 22 points from ten outings.
