Stranded Pakistanis General Repatriation Committee
A rally organised by Stranded Pakistanis General Repatriation Committee (SPGRC) was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the city on Thursday. In the programme the speakers demanded to realize its 6-point demands including rehabilitation of Urdu speaking people. They also demanded not to evict the camps of Urdu speaking people before their rehabilitation. They also bitterly criticized the decision to snap power connection from the camps all over the country. The function was addressed, among others, by President of the committee Abdul Zabbar Khan, its General Secretary M Shawkat Ali and Joint General Secretary Harunur Rashid. After the rally the committee submitted a memorandum to the Foreign Ministry.
Awami Jubo League  
A discussion marking the 87th birth anniversary of Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnessa Mujib organised by Awami Jubo League (AJL) was held at Shilpakala academy in the city's Segunbagicha on the eighth instant. Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif was present as the chief guest. While speaking Hanif said BNP has no right to do politics in the country as the party was founded by Ziaur Rahman, the main plotter of the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman along with his family on August 15, 1975. "The party which does politics of destruction and wants to make the country a subservient state of Pakistan, has no right to do politics in Bangladesh," he added. Hanif said the registration of Jamaat has been cancelled for their role and crimes against humanity during the Liberation War and the mass people are now demanding to ban the politics of Jamaat."People hate the kingpins who were involved in the brutally killing mission of Bangabandhu and his family members," he said. The function was addressed, among others, by Dhaka University Professor Sabita Rezuana Rahman, Jubo League Presidium Member Shahid Sherniabat, AJL City North Unit President Moinul Hossain Nikhil and AJL City South Unit President Ismail Chowdhury Samrat. Jubo League Chairman Omar Faruque Chowdhury presided over the event.
