11 jailed for immoral activities in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI: A mobile court here on Friday afternoon convicted 11 persons including three women and sentenced them to different jail terms for their involvement in immoral activities. On a tip-off, a police team conducted a sudden raid in Green Hotel at Baneshwar Bazar under Puthiya Upazila in the district around 6.30pm and arrested them after searching different rooms of the hotel. Afterwards, the arrested persons were produced before a mobile court. The court led by Executive Magistrate Nazmun Nahar pronounced the verdict based on their confessional statements and other circumstantial evidences.The women were sentenced to one month  imprisonment each while the male convicts were jailed for three months each. Sayeedur Rahman Bhuiyan, officer-in-charge of Puthiya Police Station, said the convicts were sent to jail. The convicts were identified as Hiron, 35, Amirul Islam, 30, Aminul, 32, Sagar Ali, 22, Hassan Ali, 25, Alam Sarder, 28, Mongla, 48, Monsur Rahman, 50, Mita Akter, 30, Rita Khatun, 20, and Soma Khatun, 32, reports BSS.
Dhaka's Darussalan militant den owner Azad hails from Sailkupa

Darussalam militant hide out owner Munshi Habibullah Bahar alias Azad Munshi is hailed from Sailkupa of Jhenaidah.  He is the permanent resident of Bittidevi Rajnagar of Kancherkole union parishad.  Militant leader Abdullah and others were caught from the six storied building by the law enforcers in the night of Tuesday. He was reportedly taken by the rapid action battalion members in the night of Tuesday from his Dhaka residence for interrogation. Locals at Sailkupa said, Munshi Habibullah Bahar was better known as Azad Munshi and serving with the T&T department for about past 35 years in Dhaka. Azad owns two tin shed houses and about 15 bighas of land in the village. He established at madrashah at a cost of Taka about six lakh near his village resident titled as Bittidevi Rajnagar Noor E Jahan Madrashah in the name of her mother last year. Locals said, Azad has been staying in Dhaka and owned six storied building serving in under the post and telecommunications department. Azad has another brother namely Asad Munshi.
Relief  distributed among flood-victims in Gaibandha
GAIBANDHA: District police distributed packets of relief materials among 1,500 flood victims of the district to mitigate their sufferings caused by recent floods. The chars and river basin areas of three upazilas-Sundarganj, Sadar and Fulchhari-were affected seriously due to the devastating flood last month creating untold sufferings of the char dwellers. Like other departments and social organisations, the members of Bangladesh police stood beside the flood-affected people with positive attitude and distributed relief materials to them to ease their hardship due to inundation. M Asaduzzaman, senior assistant police super, said a total of 1,500 flood victims of the four upazilas got packets of relief materials from the district police. Of them, some 1,000 flood victims of Fulchhari upazila, 350 of Sadar upazila and 150 of Sundarganj upazila received the packets of relief materials, reports BSS.
Free medical camp for flood-victims in Jamalpur
JAMALPUR: A day- long medical camp was held in Islampur upazila of the district today to provide treatment for the flood victims. Mahjabeen Khaled Baby, MP, inaugurated the medical camp as chief guest. The law maker said according to the direction of Prime Minister we have stood beside the flood victims for their treatment.She also said we have enough relief in hand and disbursement of relief among the flood victims will continue until harvesting the crops. The doctors of the medical team treated around 1000 poor patients in Amtoli Bazar area in the upazila and distributed medicines free of cost, reports BSS.
