6 including 3 bKash agents held for kidnapping BD nat'l in Libya

Members of Police Bureau of Investigation's (PBI), Dhaka Metro, detained six persons, including three bKash agents, from the capital's different areas and two other districts on Saturday night on charge of taking ransom after abducting Bangladeshi expatriates in Libya.
The arrested men are Nurul Haque, 45, Mamun Mia, 42, Md Kamal Uddin, 39, Abu Kashem, 35, Baby Akter, 35, and Najnin Begum, 35, Special Superintendent of PBI Abul Kalam Azad told reporters at a press briefing at its Dhaka Metro office in Agargaon on Sunday.
Tipped-off, a special team of PBI arrested the six from capital Dhaka, and Kishoreganj and Narsingdi districts on Saturday night, the police official said.
 "The circle shows the incident of torture to the victims' families through free video calling platform 'IMO' and demands ransom from them. If the victims' families failed to send the ransom, then they (The Libyan gang) murdered the abducted persons and dumped their bodies," he said, adding the PBI has initiated process to rescue the victims and apprehend the other culprits.
"A gang of kidnappers led by one Bakir Mia along with his cohorts kidnaps, detains and tortures in untraced locations of Bangladeshi nationals working in Libya," the PBI official said.
The arrestees are local accomplice of the gang, the PBI claimed. The money was channeled to different bKash accounts in the country and Bakir's wife used to receive most of the amount, according to him.
 "They have kidnapped over one hundred Bangladeshi nationals," he said.
Sub-Inspector Md Monirul Islam of PBI filed a case with Agargaon Police Station implicating the accused for their alleged involvement in the kidnapping and demanding ransom.
