Bangladesh Civil Rights Society
A rally organised by Bangladesh Civil Rights Society was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the city on Saturday. In the programme the speakers bitterly criticized killing of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar. They demanded UN intervention to solve the Rohingya crises immediately. The speakers also called upon Myanmar government to bring back Rohingyas without any delay. They urged the government to take necessary steps for the welfare of Rohingya refugees who took shelter in Bangladesh. The function was addressed, among others, by Convenor of Nagorik Oikya Mahmudur Rahman Manna, former Secretary General of Bangladesh Federai Union of Journalists (BFUJ) MA Aziz, General Secretary of Dhaka Union of Journalists Zahangir Alam Prodhan, Convenor of Jatiya Smaran Mancha Engineer Maniruzzaman Dewan Manik, Secretary General of Bangladesh NAP Golam Mostofa Bhuiyan, Vice-President of Bangladesh Kalyan Party  Shahidur Rahman and Joint General Secretary of Jatiya Ganotantrik Party Asadur Rahman Khan. Chairman of the society Zakir Hossain presided over the event.  
Bangladesh Red Crescent Society  
A relief distribution programme organised jointly by Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS), Gaibandha district unit and Grameen Phone, a private mobile company was held in Gaibandha district on Saturday. A total of 410 flood affected people of Kapasia and Belka unions of Sundarganj upazila in the district got relief materials from BDRCS. On the occasion, a simple function was held on the premises of Belka MC High School.  Superintendent of Gaibandha Police M. Mashrukur Rahman Khaled attended the ceremony as the chief guest. Each of the beneficiaries received 15-kgs of rice, 2-kgs of lentil and oil, salt, sugar, and suzi. The function was also addressed, among others, by Grameen Phone Territory Manager M. Ashiqur Rahman, Officer in Charge of Sundarganj Police Station Atiar Rahman and DRM Project Manager Golam Mostafa. Ataur Rahman Sarker Ata, Chairman of Zila Parishad and also Chairman of BDRCS, Gaibandha district unit presided over the event.
