Wrist of  saw mill helper cut off
Right wrist of a helper of a saw mill situated on Madrsa Road of Mongla port town under Mongla Upazila in Bagerhat district was cut off from his hand on Friday  morning while he was sawing wood in the mill.  It is learnt from the locals that the ill-fated helper Khokon, son of one Mozammel Hossain of Kumarkhali area of the port town had been working in the saw mill as a helper for a long. In the morning when he was sawing wood with the sawing machine his right wrist was suddenly cut off from his hand with the sawing blade due to the lack of proper attention. He was immediately admitted to Mongla Upazila Health Complex for his treatment. Later he was shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
School girl gang- raped, obscene videoed  posted
A debauched college student named Abdur Rahim (20), son of one Mohsin Molla of village Bara Gawla under Mollahat Upazila in Bagerhat district was arrested by the police on Wednesday and later he was sent to Bagerhat jail hajat through the court on the same day on the charge of committing gang rape on a girl student of Class-VII of the same village with others, videoing the obscene and posting the same on the internet. The other accused Zahidul Shikdar (23), son of one late Akubbor Shikdar of the same village has been absconding. Police is trying to arrest him.
It may be mentioned here that a few days ago the victim girl student was living alone in her house which is situated in a lonely place of the village. At that time other inmates were absent from the house. Taking the opportunity the accused rapists entered the house at about 3 pm forcibly and committed gang rape on the girl at daggers point. Not only that but also they recorded the video of the obscene. At the time of their departure the rapists threatened the girl not to disclose the matter to any body and accordingly, the victim did not disclose it to any body. On the other hand, the rapists posted the video record of the obscene to the internet. This created a sensation in the locality. At one stage the matter came to the knowledge of the members of the family of the girl and at last the victim girl registered a case with Mollahat PS against main accused Abdur Rahim and Zahidul Shikdar on the charge of committing gang rape on her, recording the video of the obscene and posting the same to the internet on Wednesday. After the incident the rapists were absconding.
College student killed in road mishap
Sagor Khan (21), a student of Chitalmari Shereebangla Degree College and son of one Ansar Ali Khan of village Bakerkandi under Chitalmari Upazila in Bagerhat district met his tragic end when his motor cycle collided with a road side tree on Dhaka-Pirojpur Highway at Panchpara under the adjacent Nazirpur Upazila on Wednesday  night. It is reported that at the night when the ill-fated college student was going to his relative's residence in Pirojpur he lost his control over the motor cycle and it collided with a road side tree. Consequently, he was killed on the spot.
Drug trader arrested in Fakirhat with Yaba
A drug trader named Shaikh Ikramul (32) was arrested from Fakirhat Upazila in Bagerhat district on Wednesday  night along with Yaba.  Police of Fakirhat PS disclosed, acting on secret information a police contingent raided BRAC office Mor (turn) area of the Upazila at the night and arrested the drug trader from there. At that time police recovered 20 pieces Yaba tablets locally known as Baba Guti from his possession. The arrested drug trader is the son of one late Shaikh Nurul Islam of village Khajadanaga under the adjacent Rupsa Upazila in Khulna district. In this connection a case was registered with Fakirhat PS under the Narcotics Act.
Cow lifter arrested along with a stolen covered van
A cow lifter named Sohel Shikdar (35) was arrested along with a stolen covered van from Josordee village within Badhal Union Parishad under Kachua Upazila in Bagerhat district on Wednesday  night while he went there to lift cows. Sohel is the son of one Abul Shikdar of village Baranggail under Shibaloy Upazila in Manikganj district. It is learnt from the locals that at the night Sohel and his some associates went to the village on Wednesday at mid night along with a covered van with a view to lifting cows from the village. But the villagers caught Sohel along with the van. But his associates managed to escape. Kabirul Islam, Officer-in-charge of Kachua PS told, some inhabitants of Badhal Union caught a cow lifter from the village Josordee at the night and informed the police of Kachua PS of the matter in the following morning (Thujrsday).

Police brought Sohel and the covered van to the PS and after taking necessary action Sohel was sent to jail hajat through the court.

Unidentified hanging  body recovered
 Police of Mollahat PS recovered an unidentified dead body (about 40) hanging with a tree near Chanderhat Passenger Shed situated by the side of Dhaka-Khulna Highway under Mollahat Upazila in Bagerhat district on Wednesday  morning .
    AKM Khairul Anam, Officer-in-charge of Mollahat PS told, on the day in the morning some locals found the dead body hanging with a tree near the passenger shed and informed the police of the matter. Police rushed to the spot and recovered the dead body. A Lungi and a half shirt were his wearings. It was sent to Bagerhat morgue in order to ascertain weather the death is a case of homicide or suicide. A bag was also found in the passenger shed. A deed of land was found in it and a number of names were written on the same as receivers. One of the names is Abul Kalam Muhit, father's name Jalal Mahmud, Baraikhali, Upazila Morrelganj, district Bagerhat.

Woman passer-by killed in  road mishap
      A woman passer-by named Rupban Bibi (35) was killed on the spot on Mawa-Dhaka Highway at Joydhihi under Mollahat Upazila in Bagerhat district a few days ago when a loaded speeding truck (Dhaka Metro-6134552) bound for Dhaka lost its control and dashed her violently.
