IU VC meets President, talks with Egyptian envoy

The Vice Chancellor of Islamic University (IU), Kushtia Prof Dr Hurun-Ur-Rashid Ashkari paid a courtesy call on President and the Chancellor of the University Adv Abdul Hamid at Bangabhavan on Wednesday. During the meeting, they discussed various issues regarding the University.
University Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr M Shahinoor Rahman, Treasurer Prof Dr Selim Toha and Acting Registrar SM Abdul Latif were also present during the meeting.
Meanwhile, IU Vice Chancellor met acting Ambassador of Egypt Shihab Miki. To promote the university to international standards, VC discussed to have visiting professors from Al Azhar University, Egypt and different academic issues with the Ambassador.
IU 4th convocation in January
Authorities of Islamic University (IU), Kushtia is going to organise its 4th Convocation at the first week of January 2018 after fifteen years. Te event will be held at the Football Ground of the University.  President and Chancellor of the University Adv. Abdul Hamid is expected to present on the Convocation.
The Vice Chancellor of the University Prof Dr Hurun-Ur-Rashid Askari confirmed it in a press conference held on Thursday evening at VC Office.
Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr M Shahinoor Rahman, Treasurer Prof Dr M Selim Toha and registrar in charge SM Abdul Latif and campus correspondents of different print and electronic media  were present at the conference.
President Abdul Hamid also the Chancellor of the university will preside over the ceremony according to the section 8 (1) of the University Act 1980, VC said.
The processing of the convocation will officially start from today, he added.
In this convocation, Chancellor will confer thirty eight thousand four hundred and nighty degrees to the students under 22 departments, Registrar Office sources said.
1996-97 to 2011-12 session (Hons) and 1997-98 to 2014-15 (Masters) will be able to get their desired degrees. The session's range may be increased, sources said.
Mentionable here that, the last and 3rd convocation of the University was held in 2002.
