The 63rd Birthday of Prof Dr Iqbal Hasan Mahmood alias Bidhan, a noted respiratory and medicine specialist, was celebrated with colorful and festive manner at his residence and Mogbazar Iqbal Chest Center in the city on Monday. The veteran physician has been greeted by his professional strata, mainly by his patients and fans on this occasion.
Dr Iqbal Hasan stared his professional life around 36 years ago with name and fame. People considere him as  'poor friendly doctor', patient reader, advisor, mentor, guardian and gentle man for his amicable behavior and professional sincerity.
Dr Iqbal, also a smiling face medicine programme presenter already has broken the previous records of serving patients in a short time as he is widely known with his vibrant presence in  electronic and print media.
Mr Iqbal was born in a noble family in Dinajpur on 23 October 1955. His father late Wahed Box was a retired police officer and his mother as late Peyera Banu, a housewife. They were inhabitants of Araihazar Upazila of Narayangnaj district. Dr Iqbal got married with Waheda Iqbal. They have two kids --- Dr Tarim Mahmood Mumu and businessman Gaurab.
Dr Iqbal is the author of 25 books, including medicine, science, plays and novel. Of these, Shuvra Kotha Kou, a play, which was written during the Farakka Long March Movement of Maulana Bhasani, got huge popularity among the listener of Bangaldesh Beter.  
Dr Iqbal has already won the hearts of millions in home and abroad for giving necessary prescriptions on various diseases through media programmes and ordinary treatment system. This energetic senior physician used to advise patients over telephone or mobile phone or other online device in remote areas across the country as well as foreigners.
Dr Iqbal also committed to run his job with the best professional integrity by considering the condition of patients beyond any ill-motive or lucrative mentality. Therefore, there is a huge rush of patients in his different chambers including Iqbal Chest Center in Mogbazar of the capital.
The ex-TV presenter of much talked programme 'Prescription' of BTV (Bangladesh Television), Dr Iqbal is still involved in health based programmes of Bangladesh Betar, Rtv, ntv, channel i, Boishakhi TV, ETV, Channel 24 and others channels. He is also busy in medicine based research, seminar, symposium and discussion programmes in home and different countries of in the world.
Mr Iqbal visited India, Pakistan, Nepal, China, Japan, North Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, Canada, UK, US and other countries, for acquire knowledge in medicine and other sectors.
Dr Iqbal was honored with various awards including Atish Dipankar Gold Medal, Maulana Bhasani Gold Medal, Bangaldesh Chalichhitra Sangbadik Samiti Gold Medal, Apanar Sawastha Honorary Medal, Jatiya Unnayan Foundation Medal 2003-04, Bangabir Osmania Medal, Sher-e-Bangla Medal, Hippocratic Gold Medal and TV Presenter Trab Award-2004 for his glorious and outstanding contribution in the health sector.
