RSTU gets 64 acres land for permanent campus

Rangamati Science and Technology University (RSTU) has got 64 acres of land for its permanent campus in Rangamati district.
Rangamati Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Manjarul Mannan, in a function at his  recently handed over the ownership document of the land to University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Professor Abdul Manna, said a UGC press release.
UGC Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan attended the ownership handing over ceremony as the chief guest with Rangamati DC Mohammad Manjarul Mannan in the chair.
Bangladesh Agricultural University Professor Dr. Manik Lal Chakma, high officials of Rangamati district administration and university teachers and officials were present in the function.
The site for permanent campus of the university is located at Jagrabheel mouza, about six kilometers away from the city centre.  Addressing the function, the UGC chairman said it is due to the personal initiative of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina that the acquisition of the land has been possible.
He announced that with the help of the local community, it may be possible to shift some of the classes of the university to the permanent campus by the middle of the next year.
Currently, around 300 students are enrolled in the university and their classes are held in a local high school. Later, the UGC chairman handed over the documents to RSTU Vice-Chancellor Dr. Pradanendu Bikash Chakma.
Biometric attendance system introduced :A biometric attendance system was inaugurated at Rangamati Government Women's College here on Tuesday.
Member of Parliament Firoza Begum Chinu inaugurated the system as chief guest.
She said, "The present government is female-friendly; so various activities are being undertaken to increase women's involvement in overall development of the country. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina herself has been recognised as a successful woman in the world, and under her leadership, Bangladesh is on the way to becoming a middle-income country."
Firoza Begum Chinu further said, "Due to government's initiative, the rate of education in the country has increased especially the rate of women education. In order to continue the advancement of women education, the scholarship programme was started by the college."
She called upon all the students to study carefully and said that they are the future of the nation.
Principal of the college Mohammad Enamul Haque Khandakar including students and teachers of the college were also present at that time.
