BNP Vice-Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu was arrested from Segunbagicha area in the city on Monday afternoon.
BNP Senior Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, police picked up Shamsuzzaman Dudu when he was returning home from the party's human chain programme in front of the Jatiya Press Club protesting BNP Chief Khaleda Zia's imprisonment.
The human chain programme ended around 11:50am.
Dudu was arrested around 12:17pm in a case filed with Ramna police station over the attack incidents on police on the day of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's Orphanage Trust case verdict.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Ramna Division Deputy Commissioner Maruf Hossain Sardar confirmed about the arrest.
He said, three cases were filed with Ramna Police station, while two were filed with Shahbagh police station over the attack on police centering the verdict on February 8.
 "Dudu has been arrested in one of the cases filed with Ramna police," he said.
Earlier, in the day, several thousands BNP leaders and followers formed the human chain in front of the Jatiya Press Club yesterday.
