Jahurul's ton secure Gazi Group's 7-wicket win
A match-winning ton by skipper Jahurul Islam saw defending champions Gazi Group Cricketers registered an overwhelming seven-wicket victory over Prime Bank Cricket Club in the ninth round of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League held on Saturday.
Chasing a winning target of 258- runs set by Prime Bank, Gazi Group reached home for the loss of three wickets with seven balls to spare at BKSP ground no 3 in Savar.
Skipper Jahurul led from the front with an impressive 103-run off 113-ball an innings that contained eight boundaries and three over boundaries before he was retired hurt.
He also involved 121-run for the fourth wicket stand with Asif Hossain who composed unbeaten 91 run off 105 ball that included six boundaries and one over boundary. Fawad Alam was the other unbeaten batsman with 29 runs.
Enamul Haque jnr took two Gazi's wickets conceding 52 runs.
Earlier, Prime Bank Cricket Club posted a competitive total of 257 for 9 from their stipulated 50 overs , after they were forced to bat first by Gazi Group.
Indian recruit Yusuf Pathan hammered 60-ball off 72-run which contained four boundaries and equal number of over boundaries while Zakir hHasan (44), Mhedi Maruf (32) and Delwar Hossain (27) were the other notable scorers for Prime Bank.
Nayeem Hasan was the most successful bowler as he grabbed four Prime Bank's wickets conceding 53 runs.
Saeed leads MSC to victory
Saeed Sarkar hammered unbeaten 25-ball off 58 runs as Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited registered a 38-run victory over Shinepukur Cricket Club in Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League held at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Saturday.
Chasing a massive winning target of 307 runs set by Mohammedan, Shinepukur found the chase stiff and eventually all out for 268 runs in 48.1 overs.
Mohammad Saifuddin scored with 68 runs and during the process, he shared 74-run sixth wicket stand with Shuvagata Hom, who chipped away 52, after Shinepukur slipped 5 for 95 runs to chase the target.
Raihan Uddin (38), Fardeen Hasan Ony (34), Uday Kaul (26) and Shadman Islam (25) were the other notable scorers for Shinepukur.
Mohammad Azim grabbed four Shinepukur's wickets conceding 45 runs. He was well supported by Taijul Islam who captured three wickets for 64 runs.
Earlier, favored by coin, Mohammedan Sporting Club piled up a massive total of 306 runs for 6 in 50 overs with four half centuries by Rony Talukder (77), Shamsur Rahman (60), Saeed Sarkar (58 n.o) and Raqibul Hasan (55).
Mohammad Saifuddin was the most successful bowler as he grabbed three Mohammedan's wickets by conceding 55 runs.
Farhad snatches Doleshawar's win
Prime Doleshawar Sporting Club managed an exciting three-runs victory over Abahani Limited in the ninth round match of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League held on Saturday.
Chasing a winning target of 233 runs set by Doleshwar, Ahahani fell short as they were all out for 229 in 49.5 overs at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur.
Abahani suffered an early batting jolt and slipped 4 for 98 runs in 27.1 overs, which saw them eventually failed to recover from their early damage.
However, Mohammad Mithun (60) and skipper Nasir Hossain (53) got a good start, but hardly got support from other end as Abahani lost wickets in regular intervals. Farhad Reza and Arafat Sunny shared three wickets of Abahani for 42 and 53 runs respectively while Sharifullah bagged two for 36 runs.
Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Doleshwar scored a decent total of 232 for 9 wickets from their allotted 50 overs with courtesy half centuries by Fazle Mahmud (68) and Farhad Hossain (63).
Later, skipper Farhad Reza blasted 26-ball off 28-run as to steer Doleshwar to post a decent total.
Manan Sharma grabbed 4 wickets for 44 while Ariful Islam and Mashrafe Mortaza shared two wickets for 29 and 47 runs respectively.
