Staff Reporter :
A Dhaka court on Monday granted bail to Lutfun Nahar Luma, a leader of the quota reform movement, in a case filed on charges of spreading rumours on social media and instigating violence during the recent movement for safe roads.
Metropolitan Magistrate Subrata Ghosh Shuvo passed the order after hearing a petition filed by her lawyer seeking Luma's bail.
Luma, a student of Eden College, was picked up from her grandfather's house in Sirajganj on August 15.
The Cyber Crime Unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) also seized two mobile phones from Luma's possession.
She was shown arrested in a case filed with Ramna Police Station on August 5 under the Section 57 of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act.
A Dhaka court placed her on three-day remand after she was produced before it in the case on August 16.
Luma was sent to jail on August 20 after Inspector Rafikul Islam of Cyber Crime Unit of DMP produced her before a Dhaka court on completion of her three-day remand.
