Mahmudullah ends CPL mission with victory

St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots defeated Barbados Tridents by two wickets in the 26th match of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2018. Thus Bangladesh silent killer Mahmudullah Riyad  ended his CPL mission this year with victory.
Chris Gayle, captain of St. Kitts and Nevis, won the toss and decided to field first in the last match of the group stage. Barbados' two openers Dwayne Smith and Sunny Sohal scored  45 runs in just 6.2 overs in the opening pair. Tabraiz Shamsibreaks the partnership getting the wicket of Dwayne Smith. Then, the other opener Sohal also got out when their score 51 runs. This time Mahmudullah Riyad picked his wicket who scored 17 runs from 17 balls. He was trapped leg before wicket by Riyad.
At last Barbados Tridents managed 168 for 5 in their allocated 20 overs. Nicholas Pooran scored highest 44 runs off 32 for Barbados. Shamsi took two wickets for 16 runs and Mahmudullah Riyad took 1 for 35 runs for for St Kitts and Nevis.
Chasing 169,  Openers Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis couldn't give a good start for St Kitts. As Chris Gayle got out for 22 and Evin Lewis for 19 runs. Mahmudullah Riyad tried to repair the innings a bit. But two more wickets fell on the other side. Riyad also got out in 11.3 overs.  The right-handed batsman Riyad scored 15 runs in 19 balls with a six.
After losing 6 wickets for 92 runs, Fabian Allen played a fabulous innings. Allen and Ben Cutting scored 52 runs for the seventh wicket partnership as theyconfirmed the team's victory. St Kitts and Nevis finally won by two wickets with two balls in hand. Allen was unbeaten for 64 off just 34 balls with four fours and 4 sixes. Mohammad Irfan took three wickets for 37 runs for Barbados.
After winning this match, St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots are now on top of the points table of the tournament. The best player of the match is Fabian Allen.
Meanwhile, Mahmudullah Riyad finished his CPL mission this year with two successive wins. In the match, He scored  28 runs in just 11 balls for grabbing the victory for his team. The Bangladesh all rounder has to return to Bangladesh squad  without playing a play-off on September 7 for upcoming Unimoni Asia Cup 2018 which will be started from September 15.
