Six sued over DU question leakage

The Dhaka University (DU) on Saturday filed a case under Digital Security Act against six persons and their unnamed accomplice in connection with question fraudulence of 'Gha' unit entry test held on Friday.
Chief Security Officer of the varsity SM Kamrul Hasan filed the case with Shahbagh police station. The case was filed under Digital Security Act 22(2), 33(2) and public examination (Offences) Act 1980.
Confirming the matter, DU Proctor Professor AKM Golam Rabbani said on Saturday that a team of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police in association of university administration detained them from Doyel Chhattar area.
`We filed a case against the six and some others. It is an on going process and culprits will not get exemption,'' he added.
The detainees were identified as Jahidul Isalam (45), Insan Ali Rocky (19), Mostakim Hossain (20), Sadman Salid (21), Tanvir Ahmmed (21) and Abu Taleb (19). They are all from Bogra district.
In the first information, Kamrul Hasan stated that owner of Rahema Computer Center of Bagura, Sabbir Hossain Rana, and owner of Google Admission and Information Center of Bagura Lahedujjaman Limon were involved with digital forgery. They leaked the question to Insan Ali Rockyin exchange of three lakh taka.
Analyzing the seized electronic device from the suspects, it was found that they shared question through messenger, whatsapp and other social media to admission seekers, the FIR read.
Kamrul Hasan in FIR also claimed that the suspects also admitted their offense.
The question paper of DU admission held on Friday was leaked before 43 minutes of the exam, alleged admission seekers and guardians.
Seventy-two multiple choice questions out of 100 of the Gha unit entrance test under Social Science Faculty for 2018-2019 academic sessions were leaked and all matched with the question papers given to the students, they said.
The examination continued from 10:00am to 11:00am on Friday morning at 81 centers inside and outside the campus.
A total of 95,341 candidates appeared in the entry test this year against 1,615 seats. Some 59 applicants contested against each seat under the unit.
