Zimbabwe-BCB XI rain-interrupted three-day match ends in draw

The rain interrupted three-day tour match between touring Zimbabwean and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Eleven ended in draw on the 3rd and last day at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium here on Wednesday.
Zimbabwean team declared the first innings for 145 for 5 in 48 overs against BCB Eleven in the afternoon on the 3rd and last day (Wednesday) after no single ball was bowled on the first day due to rain.
Sent into bat first on the 2nd day (Tuesday), the Zimbabwean team played only nine overs to score 12 for 1 in the entire 2nd day (Tuesday) for the same reason with captain Hamilton Masakadza and CR Ervine were in batting with 11 and zero.
Resuming the first innings with overnight total 12 for 1 on the 3rd day (Wednesday), the Zimbabweans declared innings with 145 for 5 in 48 overs in the late afternoon.
Captain Hamilton Masakadza, who was in batting with 11 runs, retired hurt scoring the team highest 39 runs off 88balls, hitting three boundaries.
Besides, number seven Sikander Raza contributed 46-ball 32 runs featuring four boundaries, middle order Sean Williams made 42-ball 29 runs with three fours while PJ Moor and RW Chakabva scored 14 runs each.
Ebadat Hossain grabbed two Zimbabwean wickets conceding 13 runs while Zakir Hasan, Afif Hossain and Rubel Hossain took one wicket each giving away 11, 17 and 22 runs respectively.
In reply, BCB Eleven opened the first innings in the late afternoon and scored 56 for 2 in 18 overs when the bails were drawn for the 3rd and last day, Wednesday to settle for expected draw.
Nazmul Hossain Shanta scored an unbeaten 22 runs off 54 balls with two boundaries, Mizanurrahman scored 32-ball 19 hitting four boundaries while Ariful Haque made 25-ball 4 runs with a boundary.
KM Jarvis and RP Burl claimed one wicket each giving away 8 and 9 runs respectively.
The first match of the two-match Test series between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe will begin on Saturday (Nov 3) at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
