A large number of visitors thronged the Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) for a last minute shopping with their family members and relatives, friends on Saturday.

The Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF)-2019 ended yesterday, with local manufacturers getting Tk 200 crore export orders.
 "Local manufacturers received around Tk 200 crore export orders from the month-long event," Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said in the closing ceremony of the trade fair.
He briefed the media about the overall success of the fair on the concluding day.  
"This year's trade fair was more successful than the previous years for receiving mammoth response from the visitors and buyers," said Minister Tipu Munshi.  
The minister said that about 50 lakh visitors visited the fair.
Large crowds flocked to the fair on the last day to buy products as most companies had offered attractive discounts to clear their inventories.
Highlighting importance of the DITF, Tipu Munshi said, the yearly event offered a unique opportunity to the manufacturers and traders to exhibit their products and goods before local and international audiences.
"The fair also created best opportunity for   the local manufacturers to promote their products and expand their business in the international market," he added.  
The month-long fair began on January 9 with a total of 605 pavilions, mini-pavilions and stalls showcasing goods and products from home and abroad.
About 52 foreign firms from the USA, the UK, Germany, Japan, China, Switzerland, South Africa, Australia, South Korea, India, Pakistan, Iran, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives and Mauritius participated in the trade fair.
The Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) awarded a total of 42 business firms in various categories in the closing ceremony of the fair.
A total of 33 government and private agencies also got the EPB's award for their contribution in making the fair a success.   
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi handed over the awards to the winners as the chief guest.
Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Commerce Tofail Ahmed, EPB Vice-Chairman and Secretary (In-charge) of the Ministry of Commerce SM Rezwan Hossain and EPB Vice-Chairman Bijoy Bhattacharjee were present, among others, at the function.
The Ministry of Commerce and the Export Promotion Bureau are jointly organizing the largest trade fair of the country since 1995.
