Staff Reporter  :
A school girl was torched allegedly torched by burka (veil) wearers as she refused to pay extortion despite she was threatened of publishing  some pictures of her with few local rascals at Kholabari village in Rajbari Sadar upazila.
Locals rushed to a jute field after hearing the screaming of the 16-year old victim  and rescued her in burned condition on Thursday. She is now under treatment with severe burn injuries in a local  clinic, reports our Rajbari District Correspondent quoting Asma Siddika Mili, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Rajbari.
The spoiled teenager is a tenth grade student of Tamizuddin High School in Khanakhanapur in Rajbari Sadar upazila, the police official said.
Police are trying to arrest the accused soon after filling of a case against four persons by the victim's father Fazlur Rahman with Rajbari Sadar  Police Station on Saturday morning, the SP said.
Locals claimed that police were still in dark.
According to neighbors, the victim was accused of trying to burn kerosene on her body as she refused to pay extortion Tk two lakh showing some pictures of the victim with some local eve teasers.
The mother of the schoolgirl, Nasima Begum, said that local neighbor Shilpi Begum demanded 200,000 Tk from my daughter on Wednesday because she had threatened to spread the relationship with the other son on the internet. My daughter refused to pay.
On Thursday at 12 O'clock the two sisters sat in the house in bed, I slept at home. Meanwhile, I lost my sleep in the cry of the little girl.
Sohail Bepari, the elder brother of the schoolgirl, also student of Dhaka University, said I posted the incident on social media on Friday night due to insecurity. At a stage, Rajbari Sadar OC Swapan Kumar Majumder called me and suggested to file a case.
The injured schoolgirl said, "Raju from the nearby village liked me. One domestic artist Shilpi Begum knew the information and claimed Tk two lakh from her on Wednesday not to publish some previous pictures of me with some local eve teasers on the social media. I informed the extortion incident to the family on Thursday. At one stage, some burqa wearers led by Shilpi Begum picked me from our residence and set fire on body after pouring kerosene.
Neighbor Sathi Sarkar said that they rescued the schoolgirl after hearing the screaming from a nearby jute field.
