And Possible Role Of Narendra Modi

Dr. Forqan Uddin Ahmed :
How far can Narendra Modi go? He used 'communal card' before the election. By capitalising the fierce Muslim hatred, he wanted to go to the majority Hindus. He succeeded. The question is - will he go ahead with this politics? Or take a 'low-profile' position?
On May 25, one of his statements provided a hopeful message. Before stepping into the Central Parliament, Narendra Modi uttered: "Sabka Sath, Sabka Bikash, Sabka Biswas". This is a doctrine of Modi where Muslims are by religion weak and by which the Muslims are also inspired. He said, "By witnessing the Constitution, we promise that people of all classes must be brought to new heights. There will be no discrimination on the basis of religion. "(Anandabazar, 26th May).
People will be happy in his speech. The fear that has become so widespread among the Muslims, that they may hear the message of hope. Again, it was also true that before the election, the wave of a Muslim hatred spread through communal statements. How to reduce it now? The matter is not so easy. Although India is transformed into big economic power, there are problems in society. There is much more division between society and caste. Narendra Modi came of a very simple family. In boyhood he worked in a tea stall and his mother maintained their livelihood very ordinarily. Now Modi and his family are living in the corporate world.
Two-thirds of the world's poorest people live in India, whose daily income is below 1.25 cents. Around five thousand children die in India every day. It is not possible to say that a change has occurred in the year 2019 where daily income of approximately 80 million people is $ 2.50. About 70 percent of the people live in the village. The violence and rape against women are not stopped.
There are various challenges for Modi. Poverty reduction, trusting the Muslims, establishing an equitable society, reducing gender and gender equality are not easy. The fanatic groups in Bangladesh will want to get 'benefit' from it. Modi took advantage of political speech. Now he must be realistic.
We have to see how much of his talk and work is in the match. He believes that development will be ensured by the combined efforts and unity. If he can confirm his vision of State and foreign policy for the next five years then he will be considered undisputed leader in the World history.
(Dr. Forqan Uddin Ahmed, former Additional Secretary)
