2 arrested with  250 yaba tablets

Ibrahim Farazi (28), General Secretary of Morrelganj Pourashava Unit of BCL (Bangladesh Chartra League) under Morrelganj Upazila in Bagerhat and his associate Nayeem Shaikh (18), son of one Lovelu Shaikh of village Goilbaria under the same Upazila were arrested along with 250 pieces Yaba tablets by a Company of RAB-6 from Rahima Memorial Hospital within Morrelganj Pourashava on Monday afternoon (at 4 pm). Major Shamim Sarkar, leader of RAB-6 Company (CPSC) told, on the day the members of the company tried to purchase Yaba tablets from Ibrahim Farazi and Nayeem Shaikh in the guise of customers. After a long time they (arrestees) were convinced to sell 250 pieces Yaba to RAB members from the inside of the hospital and then RAB arrested them along with Yaba tablets. Then they (RAB members) searched the different rooms of the hospital and recovered a number of empty bottles of Physnsidyl from there.

Mahila Samity condemns killing of Wari child

Jashore District Unit of Ganatantrik Mahila Samity condemned the raping and killing of Wari child Afrim Saima in a statement on Monday . In the statement, Farida Parvin, convener and Sejuti Sakila, joint convener, demanded arrest of the responsible and exemplary punishments to them.   The statement says at least 399 children were raped or attempted to be raped in the country in last 6 months.

Cheque distributed among poor in Pirojpur

PIROJPUR: Donation cheques were distributed among the poor people, who are suffering from chronic diseases, in the district  on Tuesday. Deputy Commissioner Abu Ali Md Sajjad Hossain distributed the cheque worth Taka 23 lakh among 46 patients at a function held at the office of Department of Social Service in the district town this morning. Deputy Director of the Department of Social Service Md Akteruzzaman Talukder, provisional officer Md Jakir Hossain, journalists - Gautam Chowdhury and Shafiul Haque Mithu - were present on the occasion.  Each patient got a cheque worth Tk 50,000, reports BSS.

Cancer patients, organisations get help government aid

HOBIGONJ: Three cancer patients and as many as 81 organizations of Hobigonj and Shayestagonj Upazila today received financial assistance of Tk 40 lakh from the government. Cheques of the financial assistance were distributed at a function at Sadar Upazila Parishad auditorium here recently. The organizations include educational institutions, religious bodies, graveyards and crematory. Parliament member of Habigonj-3 constituency Abu Zahir distributed the cheques among the recipients. Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sakhawat Hasan Rubel presided over the function. The financial assistances were given from the constituency based TR and cash allocation fund of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief for poor, reports BSS.
