The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon quelled the widespread apprehension, saying that the special edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20, named after the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will be held on time.
As part of the celebration of Bangabandhu's birth centenary, this edition of BPL is dedicated to him.
There was doubt whether the tournament could be delayed but the BCB president said as per the previous schedule the BPL T20 will be held on December 6.
He also announced the players draft for the tournament, which is on November 12.
BCB boss sat with some of his directors at the BCB head quarter to discuss about the upcoming BPL that is expected to be organized all by BCB as they have decided not to hold the Twenty20 tournament with franchisees.
"We have no plan to shift the date [of BPL that is scheduled to start on December 6]. We have a tour in Pakistan, so keeping that in mind we have to finish it in time. But it depends on security team's decision. They have left yesterday. Depending on their report, If our team will go there or not, we have to end it before that," Papon said here on Thursday.
"Because we are arranging an opening ceremony, it may change one or two days, but we are not confirming it now. We are preparing for December 6.
"Players Draft date is initially decided on November 12. Because we have matches till November 10 in India. So we have decided a tentative date on November 12," he said
"We sat together to discuss today (Thursday). There were some discussions on some topics and one of them was about the current situation of BPL. And we have seen that 393 players have already registered.
And the layers usually see in BPL, all of them are enlisted. And apart from that, 38 foreign coaches have applied. And we have nine sponsors, they have shown their interest. And the player's selection for the teams will be decided through draft. It's the team's decision; we have nothing to do there," he said.
He also said that the players would not gain financially like the previous six editions.
"The amount that they got in the previous editions won't be like this since BCB is organizing the tournament of its own. I can't say at the moment how it would be. There is some matter of adjustment and therefore we couldn't finalize it yet."
The BCB president said that the local coaches will also guide the teams in the BPL, while earlier it was rife that only the foreign coaches will supervise the team.
