ULAB MUN 2019 Conference ends

Campus Report :

The 3-day Model United Nations (MUN) Conference 2019 organized by the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) ended on Saturday with a grand closing ceremony at the permanent campus premises of the University located at city's Mohammadpur area. The theme for this year was "Global Amity: Good Governance as a tool of Sustainable Development" which was attended by around 200 delegates from different schools, colleges and universities of the country.
Ambassador Mohammed Mohsin, Former Foreign Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the event as Chief Guest. ULAB Vice Chancellor Prof Dr HM Jahirul Haque and Special Advisor to the ULAB Board of Trustees Prof Imran Rahman spoke at the closing ceremony of the conference. Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shamsad Mortuza was also present at the ceremony.
Ambassador Mohammed Mohsin said that the role of Bangladesh in UN Peacekeeping Programme is iconic and should be considered as an example. The students are also learning a lot through the MUN sessions and the educational Institutes must continue the initiative as this helps students learn more about national and international affairs.
There were five committees who came up with draft resolutions with each committee preparing draft resolution papers which were presented during the plenary sessions. The best delegates and the executive board committee members were recognized for their efforts in a prize giving ceremony. ULAB MUN advisor bdul Wahid and Director of ULAB Co-curricular office Mehdi Rajeb were also present at the ceremony. The delegates were the model representatives of different member states of the United Nations. The committees they represented were United Nations Security Council (UNSC), Special Committee for Bangladesh Affairs (SCBA), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC).
The closing ceremony was rounded off by the President and Secretary General of the Conference Kazi Raihanul Bari Rifat.
