Met offices turn danger signal 7 of cyclone Bulbul

Staff Reporter :The Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Friday evening raised danger signal 7 at Mongla and Payra sea ports while it has raised warning level 6 at Chattogram sea port as part of the cyclone Bulbul warning.
It also asked Cox’s Bazar to keep hoisted cautionary signal No. 4.
The met office has raised cyclone Bulbul warning level to danger signals at the maritime ports as the storm is nearing the Bangladesh coasts with maximum sustained wind speed of 140 kilometres per hour.
According to the latest bulletin of Dhaka Met Office, five to seven feet high storm surge may hit the low-lying areas of the country’s coastal areas due to the cyclone.
It is likely to pass over the Bay of Bengal tomorrow evening.
Abdul Hamid, a meteorologist of Bangladesh Meteorological Department , said that Chattogram, Noakhali , Bhola, Patuakhali, Barishal, Chandpur, Barguna, Jhalakati, Khulna, Bagerhat and adjacent areas offshore areas are likely to be inundated by five feet to seven feet high storm surge due to the cyclone Bulbul.
He said, the cyclone Bulbul is may hit Bangladesh tomorrow evening.
“The cyclone is still 700 kilimetres away from the Bangladeshi coast and is advancing towards Bangladesh and India’s West-Bengal,”  a meteorologist  said it in the morning.
He said that the nature of motion of Bulbul is under their observation.
