Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) leaves no stone unturned to make Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL) a successful tourney as they are ready to host a mega opening ceremony followed by some blazing brand of cricket in the following days. BBPL, which is named after the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in order to celebrate his 100th birth anniversary, is scheduled to kick-off from December 11 with the gala opening ceremony on December8.
A big stage is in the process of being set up at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, where the renowned artists from different places of the world will perform to ignite the Dhaka night.
The BCB Grounds Committee decided that no teams can practice in the academy premises during the next two days as they are preparing nets so that they can allocate practice facilities to the seven teams, who are expected to start their preparation from December 4.
At the same time when the BCB is ready to host a historical inaugural ceremony, they also take the matter seriously in terms of improving the facilities from players' academy fields to audience gallery.
"The opening ceremony will be held on December 8 and the BCB will leave no stone unturned to make it grandest one," BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury said here today. "We hope that our honourable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will grace the programme. We also hope that we will present you a superb opening ceremony with the combination of local and foreign artists," he added.
BCPL Governing Council Chairman and BCB director Sheikh Sohel earlier confirmed the arrival of the Bollywood superstars Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif for the opening ceremony.
The CEO however remained tightlipped on this issue, saying, "At the moment discussion with the artists is going on. I can't say anything elaborately. The BPL Governing Council will finalize the matter."
Sheikh Sohel also informed about the presence of local band music fascination James and singer Momtaz for the six-hour long inaugural ceremony.
Apart from them, singer Sonu Nigam and Kailash Kher's presence will also add the hype of opening ceremony that BCB is looking for.
The CEO said that the opening ceremony will start at 5 PM. The six hours long spectacle will end at 10 PM. The gate will be opened from 3 pm and the gate closing time is set at 5 PM for security concern as BCB seems not to comprise with security assurance.
The highest range of tickets for the opening ceremony will be TK. 10,000 which BCB will start selling out before two days of the opening function as VIP tickets. There will also two different criteria of tickets at the cost of TK. 5000 and TK. 1000.
With intentions to make the opening ceremony grand for the upcoming Bangabandhu BPL, BCB has also done some ground work fixing the wrecked chairs in the galleries. The board is also preparing the academy field on top notch keeping the preparation comfort for seven teams in mind ahead of tournament.
The first part of Bangabandhu BPL will start at the 'Home of Cricket', Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium including the opening ceremony.
Chattogram Challangers will take on Sylhet Thunders in the opening match of BPL-2019 while Cumilla Warriors will face off Rangpur Rangers in second game of the day on December 11.
