Staff Reporter :
The Directorate of Primary Education has withdrawn the expulsion order on the examinees of Primary Education Certificate (PEC) and its equivalent Ebtedayee terminal examinations.
Acting Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education Sohel Ahmed informed this to the High Court after appearing before the court on Wednesday in line with its earlier order.
He told the court that 82 PEC and 158 Ebtedayee candidates were expelled from the last examinations for unfair means and the authorities have retaken their examinations and published their results as per the HC order.
After hearing his statement, the HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman disposed of the Suo Moto (voluntary) rule issued by this court and exonerated     Sohel Ahmed from personal appearance before this court in connection with the rule.
Advocate Shafique Mahmud appeared for Sohel and Deputy Attorney General Amit Talukder represented the State.
Following a newspaper report, the HC on November 21 last year issued the rule asking the authorities concerned of the government to explain as to why they should not be directed to cancel the directive that allowed children's expulsion from PEC and Ebtedayee terminal examinations.
In the rule, the court also asked them to show causes as to why the expulsion of children from the PEC and Ebtedayee terminal examinations should not be declared illegal.
On December 18 last year, the HC ordered the authorities concerned to take re-examinations by December 28 of the children who were expelled from the last PEC and its equivalent Ebtedayee terminal examinations and to publish their examinations result by December 31.
The court also summoned the Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education before this court on January 15 this year to explain the role of his office on the expulsion of the children.
Advocate AM Jamiul Hoque Faisal and three other lawyers placed the news report before the HC bench for necessary order to stop expulsion of children from the PSC and Ebtedayee examinations.
