Freshers' reception held at Jagannath University

A Freshers' reception and farewell programme of the Social Work Department of Jagannath University was held at the university's Central Auditorium on Wednesday amid festive mood and much enthusiasm.
Jagannath University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mijanur Rahman  addressed the programme as Chief Guest while Prof Anower Hossain, Chairman of Social Work Department presided over the program.
While addressing the programme, speakers urged the new students to remain active in the field of co-curriculum activities and uphold the prestige of the department as the department had huge contribution towards the development of the national.
Besides, on the occasion of freshers' reception program, Jagannath University Social Work Debating Club had arranged its '1st inter-semester debate tournament' at the department earlier. A total 12 team took part at the debate tournament where Dhumketu-15 and Durjoy-13 secured champion and runner-up troupes respectively. Guests handed over the troupes to the respective teams at the program.
Among others, JnU Treasurer Prof Dr Kamaluddin Ahmed, Social Science Faculty Prof Dr SM Anwara Begum spoke as special guests at the programme. Teachers and students of the department were also present there.
