Staff Reporter :
Despite the direction of the high court, Hamida Akhter, 40, wife of one victim Abdus Sattar, who was killed in a so-called 'gunfight' in Moheshkhali, Cox's Bazar, failed again to file of a murder case even after long four years.
A Cox's Bazar court on Thursday dismissed a complaint filed against Pradeep Kumar Das, former Officer-in-Charge of Moheshkhali Police Station and 29 others, for killing one salt trader Abdus Sattar.
The court also asked a police officer of Criminal Investigation Department (CID), equivalent to the rank of Additional Superintendent, to investigate the complaint.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Abbas Uddin on Thursday passed the order after Hamida Akhtar, wife of slain Abdus Sattar, filed the complaint against the former OC and 29 others at the court yesterday.
Plaintiff Hamida, in her complaint, mentioned that Pradeep picked up her husband from their house in Majherpara village under Moheskhali upazila on February 14, 2017 and killed him in "crossfire".
Later, three locally made arms were recovered from his possession, showing him as an expert of manufacturing weapons,

though her husband was a salt producer, she said in the complaint.
Claiming her husband innocent, she said police staged a drama of crossfire for the interest of one Ferdous, a ringleader of a local armed terrorist group.
Plaintiff's lawyer Shahidul Islam said his client filed a petition to the High Court seeking justice for killing her husband and the HC asked the superintendent of police in Cox's Bazar to take necessary measures in this connection.
Meanwhile, as part of investigation into the killing of Major (Retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan in police firing, a public hearing will be held in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar on Sunday (August 16) with the participation of witnesses.
The probe body formed by the Home Ministry will hold the public hearing at the office of Rohingya camp in-charge at Shamlapur under Baharchhara union from 10am.
Confirming the matter on Wednesday night, committee member and Additional District Magistrate of Cox's Bazar Shajahan Ali said they will hear the witnesses of the incident on the day.
Sinha was killed in police firing at Baharchhara police check-post in Teknaf upazila on July 31.
Earlier on August 2, the Home Ministry formed a three-member investigation committee to look into the incident. Later on August 4, the probe panel was reconstituted with Additional Divisional Commissioner of Chattogram Mohammad Mizanur Rahman as its head.
Sinha's elder sister Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous filed a case with Teknaf Senior Judicial Magistrate Court on August 5 over the killing.
Seven police personnel, including former officer-in-charge of Teknaf Model Police Station Pradeep Kumar Das and Baharchhara police camp in-charge Liakat Ali, were suspended in connection with the killing.
