Leaders, staff and security personnel staying inside BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia's Gulshan office have been taking dry food since last night as law enforcers blocked the supply of food and bottled waters for them to the office. The law enforcers Wednesday night suddenly stopped the supply of food and fresh waters to the Khaleda's Gulshan office by turning away a van carrying packets of cooked food and bottled water when it arrived in front of the office gate around 7:40pm, forcing nearly 50 people inside it to take dry food like puffed rice, date and biscuits. The law forcers, however, are not resisting the relatives of Khaleda from supplying cooked food for her.As on Wednesday night, the law enforcer turned away another van carrying breakfast and bottled waters from in front of the office at road No 86 at Gulshan 2 in the morning.Police also intercepted another van carrying lunch packets when it reached near the office around 2:30pm and asked its pullers to go back without supplying the food items.BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has been staying in the office along with nearly 50 people, including some BNP leaders, office staff and her personal security personnel. The party's designated leaders have been sending breakfast, lunch and dinner from   different restaurants since January 3 for the BNP leaders and office staff and Khaleda's security personnel staying inside the office. "Police have been restricting the supply of food to the BNP chairperson's office since last night. We're taking dry food like puffed rice, date, biscuits and fruits stoked earlier in the office. We all are passing a tough time here due to the stop of food supply from outside," said BNP chief's press secretary Maruf Kamal Khan.He said Khaleda's relatives, including her sister Selina Islam, her two brothers' wives and Tarique Rahman's mother-in-law, have been supplying food for her. Some police officials from special branch have remained deployed in front of the main gate of the office who are not allowing anyone, even journalists, to enter the office.Asked as to why they are not allowing food supply to the office, the police officials said they were instructed by the high officials not to allow any kind of food supply to the office.Meanwhile, BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed in a statement expressed deep concern over the restriction on supplying food to the BNP chief's office.Plainclothes police have been maintaining register a book since February 5 at the entrance of Khaleda's office and they are writing down names, mobile numbers and identity of visitors in the book, prompting BNP leaders and activists to refrain from now coming to the office apparently in fear of arrest and police harassment.Meanwhile, BNP chairperson's adviser Sabihuddin Ahmed who accompanied Khaleda during her call on with the UK high commissioner on Wednesday at her office, did not came out of in fear of arrest.
