Sheikh Jamal DC vanquish Farashganj SC 9-1 to break record

Defending champion Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club notched a 9-1 goals victory over lowly Farashganj Sporting Club in the second phase first match of the Manyavar Bangladesh Premier League at Bangabandhu National Stadium on Sunday.
With this record breaking victory, Sheikh Jamal raised their tally to 26 points from 11 matches of the league with eight wins, two draws and one lost to maintain top in the table while Farashganj who did not taste any victory in this season remained in the bottom collected 4 points with seven losses and four draws, also from 11 matches.
Sheikh Jamal DC also set the record highest margin victory in the last season premier league beating Uttar Baridhara by 8-0 goals.
In the day's match, Haitian striker Wedson Anselme and captain Mamunul Islam Mamu made their hat-tricks scoring four and three goals respectively for the winners while Taklis Ahmed and Gambian forward Landing Darboe raised the tally scoring one goal each. Nigerian forward Akinyele Peter scored the consolation goal for the losers.
Sheikh Jamal dominated the first half by 3-1 goals.
Forward Landing Darboe put Jamal ahead in the very 8th minute of the match by a fast a grounder landed into the near post utilizing a square pass off a midfielder Alamgir Kabir Rana, 1-0.
Haitian striker Wedson Anselme doubled the lead in the 26th minute, which was his seventh league goal, utilizing a low cross off Landing Darboe, 2-0.
Nigerian forward Akinyele Peter reduced the margin for Farashganj SC in the 38th minute of the match by a superb strike. Peter slotted the ball in the far post dribbling past between Yamin Munna and Keshto Kumar 2-1.
Wedson scored his second goal of the match with a diving header on a cross off Sohel Rana in the 45th minute when, 3-1.
Wedson completed his hat-trick in the 52nd minute utilizing a throw pass off Landing Darboe. Wedson was on his way through the Farashganj SC defence keeping him cool to convert the ball in to the near post, deceiving goalie Sujan Chowdhury, 4-1.
Captain Maunul Islam scored the fifth one in the 53rd minute off a penalty, 5-1.
Wedson scored his fourth in the 66th minute capitalizing a low cross off Mamunul Islam, 6-1, to complete his 10 goals in the league.
