Minister Mohsin Ali passes away

Social Welfare Minister Syed Mohsin Ali, who was undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital, died on Monday morning. He was 67.
He breathed his last at around 9 am at the hospital, said the minister's personal officer Abdul Quadir Parvez.
Mohsin Ali is survived by wife, three daughters and a host of relatives to mourn his death.
The minister was taken to Singapore on September 5 with life support for better treatment as he suffered a heart attack. He was admitted to Birdem Hospital in Dhaka on September 3 with various complications, including pneumonia and kidney problems. He was on life support at the hospital.
The following day, he suffered a heart attack at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital and was kept under mechanical ventilation since then. UNB Molvibazar correspondent reports: The body of Syed Mohsin Ali will be brought home at 10pm on today from Singapore, said Syed Nawsher Ali Khokon, younger brother of Mohsin Ali.
His first namaz-e-janaza will be held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban around 11am on Wednesday and later the body will be taken to Darjirmahal of Moulvibazar town, he said. Mohsin Ali will be buried at Shah Mostafa Mazar at Darjirmahal after his last namaz-e-janaza there, Khokon said.
Meanwhile, President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock at the death of the minister. In his condolence message, Abdul Hamid said Syed Mohsin Ali was a dedicated and patriotic politician. "With his death, the people of the country have lost a popular politician. He had worked for the welfare of the mass people. His death is an irreparable loss to the nation," he said.
Sheikh Hasina, in her condolence message, said, "With Syed Mohsin Ali' s death, the nation has lost an honest and patriotic politician. He devoted his whole political career towards ensuring the welfare of common people."
Both the President and the Prime Minster prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed their deep sympathies to his bereaved family members.
Before becoming member of parliament in 2008 and in 2014, late Mohsin Ali served as elected chairman of Moulvibazar Pourasava for three consecutive terms. In 1992, the LGRD Ministry declared Syed Mohsin Ali as the best pourashava chairman.
Born on December 12, 1948 at Alipur in Kolkata, Mohsin Ali began his education in Kolkata. He passed Junior Cambridge and Senior Cambridge from Saint Xavier's school. Then he studied in Bengali medium for some days in Bangladesh. Then again he completed diploma in management from Kolkata.
The late minister had participated in the Liberation War actively in 1971 and suffered bullet wounds in the battlefield. He also acted as the commander model of CNC special batch in Sylhet Division during the Liberation War. Syed Mohsin Ali had also taken part in rebuilding the war-ravaged Bangladesh and acted as the general secretary of Moulvibazar Red Crescent Society from 1976 to 1984. Later, he acted as the president of Jubo League of Moulvibazar unit and then the district AL unit president.
