We are surprised that the world is ignoring our people when the people are living with the ticking bomb of anarchy over their heads and without political leadership able to rise above power politics. We are all living in a climate of insecurity not knowing who is doing what. Those overzealous young 'free thinkers' busy showing their religious hatred, particularly against Islam,  have been  asking the government furiously  to take tougher police action against the killers should now listen to the Joint Commissioner (DB) Monirul Islam to know how difficult it  is to stop targeted killings by police action. To be honest to themselves they cannot disagree that what they are doing as 'free thinkers' is political and not impartial free thinkers. If the bloggers are thinkers, free or not, they should know that intolerant politics makes their lives more risky. The DMP Joint Commissioner has made it clear last Sunday that these killings are committed with a political motive to create political destabilization. The Joint Commissioner's view about the nature of political motive has to be considered official and it is. Others will have their own explanation. The truth is that oppression and injustices themselves work towards political destabilization. The motive of killing bloggers may be just revenge. We find the police officer has come out clearly for the understanding of the political leadership, if we have any, what is needed to be done. The free thinkers are doing politics of their kind while others are doing politics of their variety. The peaceful solution lies in allowing the people's politics to prevail. We have been giving our explanation that politics of denying election invites violent politics which should have been known to serious political leaders. President Assad of Syria is perhaps the worst example of how a country is plunged into violence of killing and destruction when the people are denied their right to elect their government. Syria has turned into an international human tragedy. If the special leftist group claiming to be free thinkers feel so strongly about their own cause then they should come out openly to face their ideological opponents politically. Seeking police protection for attacking very sensitive religious feelings of the vast majority of Muslims cannot be sensible. The state has a responsibility to stop them from inciting violence. Inciting violence is a criminal offence. It is the anti-religious bloggers and police power based paranoid politics that have made Jamaat a political force to be feared by the government. It is our own assessment that the anti-Jamaat politics of the government and the leftists are bringing together other Islamist parties who see the political crisis as a fight in defence of Islam. Our appeal to bloggers will be not to try to be too much free thinkers because religion is not for the free thinkers. Let them prove their intellectual ability where intellectual creativity counts.Hatred for religion is political intolerance of a particular kind of politics and not free thinking. Extreme provocation invites extreme response from other extremists. That cannot be sensible. For the sake of peace and safety of all, we shall call upon all sides to give up extremism and violent politics and without blaming each other they should try to understand the political reality in Bangladesh.Blaming others will not resolve the problem and anxiety about insecurity. The government has to do what any government must do to justify its existence.
