The Detective Branch of police arrested three members of terrorist outfit Teherik-i Taliban Pakistan [TTP] from in front of the Shilpakala Academy at Segunbagicha in the city on Sunday late night. The arrested persons have been identified as Mehmud, 26, son of Ali Ahmmad from Malir, Usman, 23, son of Mohammad Hashem, and Fakrul Hasan, 50, from Kourangi of Pakistan. The security officials also recovered a laptop computer with files on explosive making and operating automatic firearms from their possession.Monirul Islam, Joint Commissioner of Detective and Criminal Intelligence Division, Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said: "They are members of banned TTP. They have expertise on automatic firearms and bomb making. Even they also know the technique of car-bomb making. They came here [Bangladesh] to create unrest. They planned for massive destruction."He also said that the detained Pakistani nationals' main plan was to regrouping the militants with a view to speeding up so-called Jehadi movement and destroying the peace and stability in Bangladesh. "The TTP earlier had recruited Pakistani citizens and trained them to take part in Afghanistan war. However, we will be able to know about their activities, and political motives after thorough interrogation. We are also trying to know who gave them shelter," he added.Official sources said that they arrived to gear up Islamist militant movement in Bangladesh by regrouping the scattered operatives of other militant groups. "Three TTP men came here to conduct large-scale destructive activities in different parts of Bangladesh. Of them, two arrived in Dhaka just one day before January 5 election and the 3rd man after the polls." "Earlier they had made contact with TTP's Dhaka agent and used fake passport to enter Bangladesh by air.  Just reaching Dhaka, they went under the shelter of an influential quarter. They had aimed to occur bloodshed before the election. But being failed, they have chosen 'another area' for disturbance," the sources added. On December 20, the banned militant outfit threatened to attack Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad for execution of Jamaat-e-Islami leader Abdul Quader Mollah. In the latest incident of terrorists act, the TTP militants carried out a car-bomb attack in North Waziristan that killed 20 soldiers and wounded at least 30 on Sunday.TTP is an alliance of militant groups formed in 2007 to unite together the warring factions against the Pakistani military in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan. Its chief philosophical leader Maulana Fazlullah has built strong resistance against the government. Among the militant outfits now operating in Pakistan, the TTP has proved itself as the most dangerous one terrorizing the whole nation by conducting all deadliest attacks.Meanwhile, a Dhaka Court yesterday placed three detained TTP militants on a 13-day remand in two cases. Metropolitan Magistrate Shahriar Mahmud Adnan passed the order.DB Inspector Ashraful Islam, Investigation Officer of the cases, produced the detainees to the court with a 20-day remand plea when the detained militants have been shown arrested under the Anti-Terrorism Act and Passport Act.
