An Indian domestic worker employed at the home of an International Labour Organization (ILO) official in Dhaka's Gulshan has been stabbed to death.
According to police, 39-year old Rani Begum was killed at the home by her husband Mintu. Mintu was employed as a driver in the Gulshan area.
The incident occurred around 8:30am on Saturday, Gulshan Police Station Inspector Md Salauddin told bdnews24.com. "Mintu would drop off his wife at the house before he left for work. This morning the two arrived at the house and then he killed her with the vegetable-cutting knife. The ILO official and his wife were taking a walk at the time."
Mintu turned himself in at the Gulshan Police Station after the incident, police official Salauddin said. "The two had been married for a while. From our initial interrogation it seems he suspected her of having an affair and killed her."
Mintu is currently in police custody.
Police say they have not released the name of the ILO official because they have found no connections between him and the crime.
