Driver, helper remanded

A Dhaka court has remanded the detained driver and helper of a city bus to interrogate them for hitting the car of Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal in front of National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases in the city's College Gate area on Friday night.
Metropolitan Judge Subrata Shikder on Saturday delivered the order of four-day remand each of them while the Investigation Officer (IO) and Sub-Inspector of Sher-e-Banglanagar Police Station Ruhul Amin produced the accused in his court with seven-day remand plea.
Earlier, police have detained the Motijheel bound New Vision passenger bus's (No. Dhaka Metro Ba-11-7475) driver Manik Mia, 22 and  Helper Ibahim Khalil Imon, 21,from the city on charge of striking the car of the Home Minister.
Manik and Imon were shown arrested in a case filed by Traffic Inspector Ekhlasur Rahman.
Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ganesh Gopal Biswas said that Manik was behind the wheel during the incident.
"We've arrested both of them. Police will clear about the motive of the accident after interrogating them at the custody," the OC said.
According to case report, Ekhlasur Rahman filed the case against Manik and Imon with Sher-e Bangla Nagar Police Station around 11:45pm on Friday.
A bus of New Vision Paribahan hit Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan's car in front of NICVD around 8:45pm when he was coming out of the institute after visiting a patient, it said.
The Home Minister was unhurt but the rear side of the vehicle got damaged. Police later detained the driver and helper of the bus.
