Panic among safe road campaigners

The organised cybercrime unit of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested two students from the city on charge of spreading rumours on social media during the students' protest for road safety yesterday.
The detained students are  Nazmus Sakib, 24, a student of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), Ahmed Hossain, 19,  a Madrasa student, said Sharmin Jahan, Senior Assistant Superintendent of (Legal and Media Cell) CID .
They were held for "spreading rumours on social media instigating violence and unrest" in the country,  the CID officials aid.
According to police record, so far 97 campaigners were held in 51 cases since Wednesday   over spreading roumour and instigations the movement.  
The arrest drive will continue to bring the safe road campaign activists under the net based on video footage, media reports other sources, said a detective officials of Police.
He said that law enforcers kept on surveillance on several hundreds student who allegedly spread rumour on social media, including facebook, he said.
More safe road movement activists are likely to face arrest soon in different cases.     
According to case profile, 31 students were arrested in 14 cases in Ramna Crime Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) while 20 were shown arrested in another 10 cases and 11 were arrested in four other cases.
A total of 10 more students also arrested in six cases in DMP's Motijhhel Crime Division and six also in Tejgaon Division while 26 more were arrested in 9 cases in Gulshan and 3 also in 3 cases in Uttara.
At least 16 students were arrested in 8 cases under ICT Act.
A campaigner from North south University (NSU) seeking anonymity said that hundred of students in arrest panic.
Seeking anonymity, a guardian said his son has left the home like some of  his friends to avert  arrest. 
He said that his son joined the safe road campaign and share some controversial status to support the movement. Now all family members feel insecure of his future.
