BNP announces programme demanding Khaleda's release

The BNP on Wednesday said that it would hold countrywide human chain on September 8 and observe token hunger strike programme on September 12 for 'unconditional' release of the Party Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia from jail.
BNP Senior Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the programme in a press briefing at the party's Nayapaltan central office.
He said that human chain would be formed for one hour in metropolitan cities, including Dhaka city and district headquarters, across the country from 11:00am. In Dhaka, it will be held in front of the National Press Club.
The two-hour token hunger strike would be held from 10:00am in metropolitan cities, including the capital and district headquarters, across the country.
The BNP leader said, in Dhaka city, hunger strike would be observed either in the Institution of Engineers', Bangladesh, or Kazi Bashir Auditorium at Dhaka Mohanagar Natyamancha.
Begum Khaleda Zia has been serving a sentence in a graft case in the Dhaka central jail on February 8.
