Staff Reporter :
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Sunday filed a writ petition with the High Court seeking its directive on the government to send her to a specialized hospital in Dhaka for treatment.
The HC bench of Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif and Justice Ahmed Sohel is likely to hold a hearing on

the petition today (Monday), Barrister A M Mahbub Uddin Khokan, a lawyer for Khaleda told the reporters.
Citing from the petition, he said the BNP Chairperson is seriously ill. She has been suffering from a number of diseases, for which, she needs treatment in a specialized hospital.
Barrister A K M Ehsanur Rahman, another counsel for Khaleda Zia, said, the writ was filed as her fundamental rights are violated. "Abstention from giving proper treatment to Khaleda Zia is contrary to the Articles 32 and 35(5) of the Constitution."
Khaleda Zia has been serving in jail since February 8 this year after a Dhaka court convicted and sentenced her to five years' imprisonment in Zia Orphanage Trust case.
