A DB team of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested them with a knife and some mobile phone sets.
They are Saif,  Munir, Arafat, Saiful, Meherab, Apel, Sifat, and Sohel, said Masudur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner (Media) of the DMP.
Of them, Saif, Arafat and Sifat were sent to jail after obtaining confessional statement  under Section 164 of the CrPC in a Dhaka court on Sunday.
The judge also granted one day remand for interrogating Munir, Saiful, Meherab and Sohel when they were produced by the investigation officer with seven-day remand plea in the court.

Earlier, 17-year old Mehedi arrived in Dhaka from Sadar upazila of Patuakhali to visit his friend Nazmul's house in Dhaka's Dakkhin Khan area after Eid-ul-Azha.  Before his arrival in Dhaka, Nazmul, also a member of Shanto group, had an altercation with young Taki, a member of Arafat group, in the area.
The incident took place in front of KC Hospital on August 31 evening when Nazmul involved in a clash with the rival group. At that time Mehedi was accompanying him. At one stage, the rival members chopped Mehedi with sharp weapons, leaving him injured critically.
Mehedi was rushed to Kurmitola General Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
