The High court (HC) on Tuesday fixed September 16 for passing its order on a writ petition filed by BNP leader Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury challenging the legality of a notice issued by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) asking him to appear in the Commission to face interrogation in corruption charges brought against him.
The HC bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam
Talukder and Justice K M Hafizul Alam passed the order after hearing on the petition.
Barrister Moudud Ahmed appeared for Amir Khasru, while Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan argued for the ACC.
Earlier on September 4, another HC bench refused to hear the same writ petition.
On August 16, the anti-graft watchdog in a notice asked BNP leader Amir Khasru to appear before it on August 28 in connection with the corruption charges brought against him.
On August 28, Amir Khasru sought one month's time from ACC for collecting necessary documents in this regard.
The same day, ACC granted his petition and issued another notice asking him to appear in the commission at 10:00 am on September 10.
