Court Correspondent :
Two teachers of Vikarunnisa Noon School and College yesterday secured bail in the case filed on the charge of a instigating student Aritri Adhikasri to commit suicide.
Judge Rabiul Alam of the Third Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court of Dhaka passed the order. The court also fixed July 10 for hearing on charge framing against the accused teachers. They are- the institute's acting Principal Naznin Ferdous and branch chief Zinat Akter.
Earlier, the two teachers surrendered to the court seeking bail on Sunday, while the court granted their bail after hearing on the bail petitions. However, the prosecution lawyers opposed their bail pleas.
On March 20, DB Inspector Kamrul Hasan Talukder, who is the investigation officer of the case submitted the charge sheet of the case to the court. The charge sheet says that the bad and unkind behavior of the teachers, not likely for teachers, led Aritri to suicide. However, Hasna Hena, class teacher of Aritri's class was not included in the charge sheet and she was discharged in the case.
On December 3, last year, Aritri, 15, a nine grade student of Vikarunnisa Noon School and College died by hanging at her Shantinagar residence in the city allegedly due to the instigation of the accused teachers. The examination authorities of the school allegedly expelled the girl from the examination hall for alleged copying the previous day. Later, her parents were taken to the institution when they were allegedly insulted in front of Aritri and the girl committed suicide the same day.
Later, Aritri's class friends made demonstration against the incident while her father filed a case with Paltan Police Station on December 4 accusing the teachers of instigating Aritri to commit suicide. Although, the teachers were arrested, later, they secured bail from the court.
