'Bangladesh bright instance of communal harmony'

Discussants at a view-sharing meeting on communal harmony unanimously observed that Bangladesh has set a bright instance of communal harmony in the world.
They also viewed people of all faiths are now living in the country amid peace and tranquility as the present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is pledged bound to establish communal harmony in the society.
They made this observation while addressing a meeting titled "Bangabandhu on way to Centenary and Bangladesh is of Harmony" organized by Samprity Bangladesh at city bhaban in Rajshahi.
Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) AHM Khairuzzaman Liton addressed the meeting as chief guest while convener of Samprity Bangladesh eminent actor Pijush Banarjee spoke as focal person.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Rajshahi University Prof Ananda Kumar Shaha, former Secretary to the government Nasir Uddin Ahmed, valiant freedom fighter Dr Abdul Mannan and social worker Shaheen Akter Rainy, also spoke.
Mayor Liton said the present government has been working relentlessly for ensuring peace and communal harmony and it has attached top priority to all sectors.
He said a responsive and positive role by all quarters is very important for maintaining peace and communal and social harmony.
For the sake of building the nation as a peaceful motherland, all conscious, patriotic and peace-loving people should come forward and work together, he added.
Pijush Banarjee said that the nation would get rid of conflicts and confusion if the people of the society as well as the state machineries took a positive approach to establish peace and amity from their own position.
The mass-people should take steps to build a national unity to free the nation from the clutches of conflicts, feud and violence, he added.
More than 100 people comprising people's representative, political leaders, members of the civil society, religious leaders and government and non-government officials concerned joined the meeting sharing their views on the issue.
