Mominul signs up beside Viv Richards with 11 consecutive fifty-plus Test scores

By Agency

Bangladesh toporder batsman Mominul Haque has equalled the feat of West Indies batting great Sir Viv Richards by scoring his 11th successive fifty-plus score in Tests.
The left-hander scored a defiant 68 against Pakistan in the fourth day of the last Test at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Friday.
The hosts, however, went on to suffer a huge 328-run defeat before tea as Pakistan took their first win, and the Test series in the process, in the month-long tour.
Mominul's string of fifty-plus scores started in October, 2013.
He brought up the fifty, his second against Pakistan, facing 83 deliveries that included six boundaries.
Mominul is the fourth batsman to accomplish the feat after Richards, India's Gautum Gambhir and Virender Sehwag.
South Africa captain AB de Villiers holds the world record of 12 consecutive fifty-plus scores in Tests.
Mominul sat beside India's batting legend Sachin Tendulkar and England's John Edrich after scoring 80 in the first innings of the Khulna Test.
Mominul, who played his 14th Test on Saturday, failed to score a fifty-plus score in only one match, against Zimbabwe in Harare.
He notched either a half-century or a century in all the other matches. Mominul has four centuries in his short career.
