Two women drug traders were arrested along with 11 kgs ganja from 2 different places under Fakirhat Upazila in Bagerhat district at Friday night at about10-30 pm by the DB (Detective Branch) Police of Bagerhat district, according to a report received here.
It is stated that at night the DB police conducted 2 separate raids at Town Noapara by the side of Dhaka-Khulna Highway under Fakirhat Upazila arrested the drug traders. They are Nurjahan Begum (30), wife of one Sahadat Hossain hails from Digraj Balurmath area under Rampal Upazila and Fatema Aktar Shathi (23), daughter of one Selim Hawladar hails from Sreefaltala under Rampal Upazila. Swapan Kumar Roy, Inspector of Bagerhat district DB Police Inspector told, acting on secret information a contingent of the DB Police conducted two separate raids at Town Noapara area (mentioned earlier) and arrested the 2 women drug trader within one hour Nurjahan Begum along with 7 kgs ganja and Fatema Aktar Shathi with 4 kgs ganja from the 2 different places within one hour.
The police Inspector added, the arrested 2 women are involved with this drug trading practice for a long. They mainly used to receive the big dispatch of drugs and hand over the same to others. They were handed over to police local Fakirhat Model PS and two separate cases were lodged with the PS under Anti-Drug Act.
