Corona vaccination for prisoners has started at Chittagong Central Jail. on the first day of Thursday, 670 inmates were vaccinated by Pfizer vaccine . The rest will be brought under vaccination in phases. District Jailor Dewan Mohammad Tariqul Islam confirmed the matter.
He said vaccination activities run from 9 am to 4 pm. Prisoners appeared in six booths set up in two cells inside the jail and received the vaccine. A minimum of 500 people will be vaccinated every day. All 6,000 prisoners will be vaccinated in phases. The Civil Surgeon’s Office is supervising the work of vaccinating the prisoners.
Divisional Health Director Hasan Shahriar inaugurated the vaccination program. Chittagong City Corporation Chief Health Officer Selim Akhter Chowdhury, former Civil Surgeon Fazle Rabbi, DIG (Prison) AKM Fazlul Haque, Senior Jail Super Md. Shafiqul Islam Khan and District jailor . Tariqul Islam were present on the occasion.
