Addl DIG suspended for campaigning for his wife

The Home Ministry on Thursday suspended Hamidul Alam, an additional deputy inspector general of police, for campaigning in the upcoming general election on behalf of his wife Sahajadi Alam Lipi, an independent candidate for Bogura-1, due to violate the electoral code of conduct.

Hamidul, posted at the Barishal Metropolitan Police as an additional commissioner, was attached to the police headquarters.
The home ministry issued an order in this regard.

The order was issued a day after Bogura joint district and sessions judge Shahnaz Parvin’s Wednesday ordered the police official to appear before the district election investigation committee in-person on Thursday.

Staff Reporter : Police have rescued Preeti Khandaker Halima, a woman vice chairman candidate in Bijoynagar upazila of Brahmanbaria, two days after her reportedly going missing while campaigning for votes.
