A complaint has been found of adulteration of baby food in Bhangura upazila of Pabna. Specialy it has been reported that there is no quality control system in the privately owned milk buying centers in the upazila. On this occasion, center managers are marketing by mixing milk with water.
Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Rumana Akter Romi said that there are various complaints against milk cooling center including adulteration. Presence of excess water in milk was detected by milk analyzer at some purchasing centers. Apart from this, there have been allegations of unsanitary milk collection, milk testing and transportation of milk without food grade containers.
Recently, upazila Assistant Commissioner (Bhumi) and Executive Magistrate Tasmia Akter Rosy found evidence of adulteration in a milk center during the operation of the mobile court. For this Faruk Dairy was fined 20 thousand taka.
Experienced persons think that it is possible to eliminate adulteration of baby food if the campaign is continued in all the milk buying centers of the upazila through the operation of mobile courts.
