Bangladesh take on India in final today

Bangladesh Under-19 Women’s Football team will take on India Under-19 Women’s Football team in the final of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Under-19 Women’s Championship at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Shipahi Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the capital’s Kamalapur today. The gala final will kick-off at 6.00pm.

In the league phase, unbeaten Bangladesh beat India by a solitary goal. Bangladesh respect stronger India but Bangladesh retained their winning streak and want to be the champions of the prestigious football competition.

The last edition of age-based SAFF Women’s Under-20 Championship was held recently. Bangladesh emerged the champions in that edition beating Nepal in the final.

This time Nepal was ousted from the title race from the first phase.

India have four booters, who took part in the recently concluded Under-17 Women’s Football World Cup. Bhutan performed worst in the league phase. They played three matches but failed to earn any victory.

India started their SAFF Under-19 Women’s Championship thrashing Bhutan by 10 goals to nil in their first match.
Bangladesh earned a lone-goal victory over India in their match.

Bangladesh clinched the title of this age based football championship for three times. India won the trophy for one time in the year of 2022.

Head Coach of Bangladesh Women’s Football team Saiful Bari Titu said, ” I am not interested to think about the past. In the year of 2022, I had no duty of the team. So, I cannot think about the past. This is a different tournament. The better team will win the match.”

Head Coach of India Under-19 Women’s Football team Shukla Dutta said, ” We have no target to take revenge. We have come here to play. We are enjoining that we are going to play against Bangladesh. We lost to Bangladesh in a match of the first phase. We want to see what my girls can do in the final.”
